VIDEO: Moises Caicedo skills vs Romeo Lavia skills: who is better for Chelsea?

Ball-winning and possession-controlling central midfielders have become football’s latest valuable profile.

Chelsea’s acquisitions of Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion and Romeo Lavia of Southampton in recent days are proof of that.

At £115million ($146m, €134m), Caicedo is the third-most expensive footballer ever, a British record transfer, and now means that three of the top 10 all-time fees have been paid for defensive midfielders — alongside Declan Rice, signed by Arsenal this summer from West Ham, and Enzo Fernandez, who joined Chelsea from Benfica in January. A fee of £53m for Lavia was agreed, which would rank inside the top 100 fees in history.

Like much of Chelsea’s recent transfer activity, signing both these midfielders looks gluttonous, especially as last season’s squad was literally too big.

Caicedo has featured in most of Chelsea's games since his signing with Romeo Lavia yet to make a single appearance due to injury.

In this video, we take a look at both midfielders and see who is better for Chelsea's midfield. You decide.
